Udham
Singh Nagar The district of Udham Singh Nagar was a part
of District Nainital and gained the identity of a separate
district in October 1995.
The district was named
in memory of the Late Shri Udham Singh, martyr of the
freedom movement, who avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
The district comprises
three main sub-divisions of Rudrapur, Kashipur and Khatima.
Udham Singh Nagar
is, both, an industrially advanced district as also in
the forefront of the green revolution. It is, at the same
time, a perfect example of ‘Unity in Diversity’ for which
India is so widely known. Different cultures, religions
and life styles are blended here in absolute harmony. |
