Important fortnightly achievement in crime

Police has recovered 9 desi, and one factory made gun, 2 desi revolver, 34 CMP, 66 cartdges factory made,38 knives/khukri and illegal weapons maker factory.

On January 14,2002 in PS Tehri, district Tehri Garhwal, 3 persons were arrested with 14,195 pouches of illicit liquor costing approximately Rs. 4 lakhs.

On January 7, 2002 PS Khatima, district Udham Singh Nagar, 2 persons were arrested with an Astdhatu idol of Mahavir Digamber Jain weighing 2.75 kg, costing approximately Rs.10 lakh.

DG Uttaranchal awards Police Officers

A K Sharan, Director General of Police, Uttaranchal has awarded police personel on the occassion of Republic Day celebrations.

'Uttrakrith Sewa Samman Chinn' have been awarded to Nirikshak, LIU, Mr. Dhanwantri Prasad Thapliyal of district Rudraprayag and SI (M) Mr. Rakesh Kishore Negi of Police Headquarters, Uttaranchal.

'Sarahaniya Sewa Samman Chinn' have been awarded to UNNP Mr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma of district Udham Singh Nagar;UNNP Mr. Raj Kishor Singh of district Dehradun; SI(M) Mr. Nandan Singh Bist, SI(M) Mr. Puran Singh Rawat and SI(M) Mr. Shyam Narayan Molokhi of Police Headquarters, Uttaranchal, Dehradun; UNNP Mr. Devendra Singh Digari of district Almora; MA/40518/ Mr. Rajendra Singh Negi of 31 Vahini, PAC, and MA/55068/ Mr. Govind Lal of 46 Vahini, PAC Udham Singh Nagar; Constable/72/Mr. Rajendra Singh of district Dehradun; Constable/50801/Mr. Hari Singh of 40 Vahini, PAC, Haridwar and Constable/55713/ Mr. Bhagwati Prasad Pant of 46 Vahini, PAC, Udham Singh Nagar.

Schedule for Police Recruitment
Response to recruitment for the posts of Sub Inspectors and Constables in Uttaranchal Police have come in form of application forms duly filled. The process of recruitment has started.

Against the post of 252 Sub Inspectors 19620 applications have been recieved.In this, for 25 posts of women SI's, 2344 applications have been recieved and for 227 male SI's post, 17276 applications have been recieved.

Against the post of 2000 Constables 25233 applications have been recieved. In this, for 200 post of women constables, 5191 applications have been recieved and for 1800 post of male constables 20042 applications have been recieved.

Tentitive dates of Physical Test will be conducted from March 4 to 13, 2002. Written Test will be held on March 14,2002. Result of written test will be announced on March 18,2002.Interview will be held from March 19 to 23. Results of interview will be declared on March 24,2002.

Police Recruitment

For the want of increase in police force in Uttaranchal State, applications have been invited for filling of the post of Sub Inspectors and Police Constables. The vacancies for the SI are 252 in number ( 25 reserved for women)and for the Constables 2000 in number (200 reserved for women).

The last date of submission of duly filled application forms for the post of 252 Sub Inspectors (including 25 reserved for women) is January 15, 2002.

The last date for submission of duly filled application form for the post of 2000 Police Constables (including 200 reserved for women) is January 19,2002.


Police Force demands met
On January 16, 2002 the Chief Election Commissioner J Y Lingdoh met Uttaranchal police officers and assured meeting the demand for arranging an additional force for the forthcoming Assembly Elections, as per the norms of 1996.

60 percent of Uttaranchal is covered by revenue police. In 1996 there were 22 constituencies which have increased to 70 in 2002.

However the Uttaranchal police has asked for additional police force from other state.


Cheeta, Chetak squads launched
The Uttaranchal's Director General of Police A K Sharan flagged off Cheeta squad to facilitate the public with immediate solution to problems as well as maintaining law and order.

Equipped with a wireless set and a service revolver, two policemen riding a motorbike will conduct frequent rounds of allotted areas. In total 6 such units have come in operation in Dehradun.

Similarly 8 such units have been mobilized in Haridwar and 2 in Roorkee, by the name of Cheetah squad.
