takes salute at 1st Anniversary Parade
History
was created in Police Lines Dehradun on 9th November 2001. In a unique
honour, the Union Home Minister Shri L.K. Advani reviewed the glittering
Ceremonial Parade, to mark the 1st Anniversary of Uttaranchal and the raising
of the state police. The Chief Minister Shri Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and
other senior functionaries of the state government were also present on
this momentous occasion. The parade was commanded by DIG Shri A.K. Raturi
and consisted of 8 Platoons of men and women of Uttaranchal Police. The
Regimental Colours of Uttaranchal Police were also on Parade.

Shri Advani began by
paying tribute to the martyrs of Uttaranchal Police. After reviewing the
parade he unveiled the mission statement of Uttaranchal Police. This was
followed by the inaugaration of the Uttaranchal Police website and the
presentation of medals for distinguished services to two officers. The
DGP Shri A.K. Sharan then presented the Annual report of Uttaranchal Police.In
his speech Shri Advani dwelled on the terroist menace as a global threat
and he stressed on the role of the police in |
combatting
this threat. He also complimented the force on its achievements, especially
on the fairness and integrity of the recruitment drive that was concluded
recently. Our congratulations to all the officers and men, especially DIG
Shri P.K. Joshi and DIG Shri A.K. Raturi, who, through their tireless efforts,
made this inaugaral event such a grand success.
